I'm currently adding a lot of Austrian stamps to the website. I particularly like this country's stamps - the earlier ones are a little dull but give an insight into the country's troubled history (end of Empire, inflation, incorporation into the Third Reich etc), more recent material includes some unusual issues (ceramic, plastic, embroidered etc). Most commemorative issues are just a single stamp and certainly a collection of modern issues could be put together fairly cheaply.

Austria new issue 14.6.2014
Facebook Stamp Thing - Austria
20th anniversary of the referendum that resulted in the accession of Austria to EU
14.06.2014
On 06.12.1994 the Austrian people was asked to join the European Union and 66.6% voted “Yes”. On 1.1.1995 was admitted to the EU. Austrian Post is dedicated in cooperation with the Economic Chamber Austria this event a special anniversary brand.
For a long time Austria’s accession to the European Community, especially from neutrality legal reasons, had been unthinkable. Today, there is wide consensus on the benefits that are associated with the membership: From the free movement of people, a free educational mobility as well as various grants and research projects benefiting countless people in Austria. Not only an unrestricted access to the EU single market, a common currency, but also the EU’s eastward expansion a boost and internationalization of the domestic economy was a result of the accession.
For the design of the special stamp Austrian Post and Austria Chamber of Commerce held a competition in which all pupils of the country could participate. The design of Moritz Dittrich, Raphael Strasser and Jacob Chisté Class 3c of Brigittenauer Gymnasium in Vienna was able to convince the jury and won the first place.

germany year sets
I've just taken delivery of some excellent Germany Year Sets. The stamps are all selected items - the mint are all fresh unmounted. These are priced VERY competitively, often around 20% of catalogue value. Almost all post war years are available, as are year sets for East Germany, Berlin, Austria, Liechtenstein and Russia. This is a cheap and easy way to further your collection.

Austria on line

I've almost completed putting all my used Austria on the website. It's mainly recent material with an excellent range of used commemoratives. many of these have shown considerable price increases over the last few years. The site is now pretty complete from 1970 to date, for used at least. I do have a couple of excellent mint Austria collections that should go on at some time over the next few months. Austria here.
